Bonded T1 Line

Reasons To Consider A Bonded T1 Line

T1 line is able to handle 24 channels of voice communications or transfer 1.54 mbps of data. 24 channels or voice lines may be perfect some companies but not meet the needs of a company experiencing a period of growth and increased needs. The business customer who needs more than a single T1 can deliver but is not yet ready for the expense and capabilities of a T3 line, may turn to a bonded T1 line.

The root problem with upgrading to a T3 service directly from a single T1 line is that there is such a large gap between a T1 at 1.54 Mbps and the T3 which can provide transfer speeds of up to 45 Mbps. While the capabilities of the T3 are exceptional, the growing business may not be ready for the extra expense nor able to fully utilize the bandwidth of a T3. The bonded T1 instead is a stepping stone where the capabilities of the single T1 are multiplied as necessary to meet the needs of a company gradually. Two or more lines might be bonded and provide 3 Mbps data transfer speeds at a more affordable price than the T3.

Bonded T1 services are multiple lines which act as a single line would, but have a greater capacity. This can result in a scalable delivery of only the bandwidth and services needed for that stage of the company life cycle. As needs grow more than two lines might be necessary and up until around eight lines are bonded, this can be economically beneficial.

Bonding as it applies to the bonded T1 stands for Bandwidth on Demand Interoperability Group. This is an industry term that indicates that the bandwidth can be increased on demand by bonding more lines, and that they all operate as a single line. Two lines provide up to 3 Mbps while 4 lines provide 6 Mbps and lines can be added as the company needs expand.

Very high quality video signals may require more bandwidth than a single T1 service can deliver, but a bonded solution can permit the transmission of such quality video and music. Call centers which receive a medium high volume may find that the bonded T1 service is the right scale for their operation. A business with multiple phone lines as well as heavy data transmission requirements may choose a T1 bonding option until ready for a much larger pipe.

T1 services are available for even more rural locations. Service delivery may be accomplished by using copper lines or fiber optic lines. Bonded T1 service can be provided to consumers in almost any location. The further from the central office a signal from DSL travels the more it degrades while T1 services can be refreshed at frequent intervals to avoid this.

Bonded T1 services may be used by businesses to expand their capacities while keeping costs down. The business location is not as much of an issue with T1 as it might be for cable or DSL and with bonding, the service may be expanded to provide rural customers with exceptional speed and bandwidth that meets their needs. Bandwidth scalability, reliability and availability make a bonded T1 a very attractive choice for growing businesses.
